On 30 May, Chen Qiuyan, Director-General of Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong People’s Government, and Zhang Aijun, Mayor of Meizhou Municipal People’s Government and senior officials of Meizhou City, visited the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Guangzhou. Mayor Zhang briefed Mission on Meizhou’s prospects and priorities under the regional development plan of “one core area, one economic belt, one ecological zone” in Guangdong, and discussed with Consul General Chua the possible areas for cooperation between Guangdong and Singapore. Meizhou possesses good potential for development given its rich history and culture, ecological environment and its status as a famous hometown of overseas Chinese.
