Replacement of a lost Singapore passport

Overview

Replacement of Lost or Stolen Singapore Passport:

1. Singaporeans who lost their passports while in China should go to the local police station (派出所) and to the local Entry-Exit Administration Bureau (出入境管理局) of your district to report the loss and fill out a lost passport form (护照报失证明) and to regularise your stay in China.

2. Report the loss to ICA online using your Singpass, through the Report Loss of Passport ↗ (opens in new tab). Please note that your passport cannot be used once reported lost, even if later recovered.

3. Singaporeans wishes to return to Singapore immediately may apply for a Document of Identity(DOI) online via the Apply for Travel Document ↗ (opens in new tab) using your Singpass. Alternatively, if applying in person, please bring a completed lost passport form (护照报失证明) and two passport-sized photographs to the Consulate-General.

Additional Note:

Upon collecting your DOI or new passport, you will be required to report to the Entry-Exit Administration Bureau (出入境管理局) to update your travel document details and apply for an Exit Permit. As part of the process, you may be asked to provide proof of hotel registration (住宿登记) or registration with a local police station upon your arrival in China. Please note that the processing time for an Exit Permit is approximately 7 working days, depending on the district.

Upon your return to Singapore, you will be required to surrender the DOI at the checkpoint and apply for a new passport.

• 4 - 6 weeks (New Passport)

Important notice

The use of a DOI is to facilitate Singaporeans returning to Singapore and not to be use as a travel document to a third country. When returned, Singaporeans will need to surrender their DOI at the checkpoint and apply for a new passport.
